Soil and Society Workshop

Soil and Society Workshop

The Helping HandSingapore
Saturday 23 May  •  9:30 AM - 11 AM
Overview

Learn about soil ecology, and how to build healthy soil for creating a bee garden and growing food!

“The most important part of the garden is invisible.

It starts with soil.” ~ Nova C. Nelson

Join us at the A Rocha Bloom & Buzz garden in partnership with The Helping Hand and commemorate World Bee Day, 20 May!

A regenerative practice starts from a simple premise:
feed the soil, and the soil feeds the plants and pollinators.

Here at the Bloom & Buzz garden, we practice urban permaculture and syntropic agriculture principles.

Mimicking how soil is built in our jungles and forests — over time, with what is already there, in layers. We built this soil as a community using the Kuih Lapis method — layering fallen leaves, coffee grounds, cardboard, burnt rice, cocopeat and compost, one on top of another. Just like the kuih, every layer matters.

Healthy soil grows healthy plants. Healthy plants attract pollinators. Pollinators make harvest possible.

It all begins below your feet.

Cost:
$20 + 2.05 (Eventbrite fees)

Your Instructor
Nova C. Nelson, Permaculture Designer; Founder of Cultivate Central
