有些人失去了说话的能力，却没有失去表达自己的渴望。有些声音，或许无法通过语言说出来，但可以通过诗歌、文字、艺术、游戏，甚至一部短片，被听见。这个10月，让我们来到友联书局，一起认识一个可能并不熟悉，却值得更多理解的群体——失语症（Aphasia）。

《Brokenness Becomes Beautiful》新书发布会暨失语症主题交流作为首届 2026 Singapore Independent Bookshop Day（新加坡独立书店日） 的活动之一，友联书局很高兴邀请大家参加 Terence Ang 最新作品 Brokenness Becomes Beautiful 的新书发布会。这不只是一场新书发布会。当天，我们将通过专题讨论、互动游戏、诗歌朗读及短片放映，一起聊聊： 什么是失语症？ 在语言之外，我们还能如何表达自己？面对失去与改变，我们如何重新找到自己的声音？我们又可以如何理解、支持和接纳失语症社群？活动由知名主持人 Collin Chee 主持，并特别邀请 Aphasia SG 创办人、言语与语言治疗师 Evelyn Khoo 担任嘉宾，与大家分享关于失语症、创造力、韧性与沟通的故事。

This October, join us at Union Book Co. as we explore a condition that many may not know much about, but one that deserves greater understanding — aphasia.

Through a panel discussion, interactive games, poetry readings and a short film, we will explore: What is aphasia? How can we express ourselves beyond language? How do we find our voices again when life changes? And how can we better understand, support and include the aphasia community?The session will be hosted by Collin Chee, with special guest Evelyn Khoo, Speech and Language Therapist and Founder of Aphasia SG.Together, we will explore aphasia, creativity, resilience, communication — and the many different ways people find their voices.
