<p>Singapore’s population is rapidly ageing. The United Nations (UN) has projected that 47% of Singapore’s total population will be aged 65 years or older by 2050. An ageing population poses a unique set of problems for society and the individual. A topic seldom discussed is one of sexuality as one age. There remains a general societal belief that old people are, or should be, asexual. Even amongst health care professionals, many did not believe that people in their seventies have sexual needs. The fact is many older people engaged in sexual activities into their eighties or even their nineties. Studies have shown that sexual activity is important for our well-being as we age.</p><p>Admittedly, sexual activity does decline with advancing age. This may be related to problems encountered with the physiological changes to the body, acquired medical conditions or psychosocial issues related to ageing. These changes may require a new outlook on sex and the way it is practised. Knowing the facts about how the body changes can allay anxiety and is the first step.</p>

<h2>About the Speaker</h2><h3>Dr Lee Fang Jann</h3><h3>Consultant Urologist &amp; Transplant Surgeon, StarMed Specialist Centre</h3><p>Dr Lee Fang Jann is a Consultant Urologist and Renal Transplant Surgeon in private practice. He has close to two decades of clinical experience. His subspecialty focus is on men’s health and minimally invasive surgery for urological diseases.</p><p>Outside his daily practice treating patients with urological cancers, kidney stones and prostate enlargement, he is the Vice President of Asian Andrology Association, Honorary General Secretary for Society of Men’s Health Singapore and serves on the executive committee of the Singapore Urological Association.</p>
