The Youth Town Hall Brunei is a platform set up in 2020 by the Youth Professionals Network, in conjunction with the National Youth Day to inculcate a solution driven, forward thinking mindset and collaborative youth community who are passionate about contributing to our national development.
The Youth Town Hall Brunei today continues to be an initiative co-organized by the Young Professionals Network (YPN) and by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports which aims to provide youth with the knowledge, tools and empowerment to contribute to economic and social growth of Brunei proactively, innovatively and dynamically.
As Brunei Darussalam is undergoing a transformative phase of socio-economic development driven by digital transformation underpinning the 4th Industrial Revolution, our youth participation as leaders and co-creators is ever more important in the fast-changing and dynamic landscape especially in the realization of Brunei’s Wawasan 2035 and as Negara Zikir.
To date, the Youth Town Hall Brunei has brought together 11 Ministers and over 3,500 youth in 7 sessions.
Theme: Youth in Action - Powering Brunei's Economic Future
“Youths are the future agents of change” — a phrase often repeated, but today, it holds more weight than ever. Nearly half of Brunei Darussalam’s population is made up of youth, making them one of the country’s most valuable — yet often underutilized — resources.
While Brunei is blessed with abundant natural resources like oil and gas, fisheries, and forests, it is time we shine the spotlight on another critical resource: our young people. Bruneian youth are already breaking barriers, innovating in sectors such as smart farming, aquaculture, eco-tourism, and the creative economy. Now is the moment to elevate their role in building a sustainable and dynamic economic future.
With Wawasan 2035 less than a decade away, the need to involve youth in shaping and driving economic transformation is urgent. One of the vision’s core goals — achieving a dynamic and sustainable economy — cannot be realized without the meaningful participation of youth, alongside government, private, and civil society sectors.
The 8th Edition of Youth Town Hall Brunei, organized in conjunction with the 20th National Youth Day, brings together young changemakers with the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism in a bold, open dialogue.
Together, we will explore:
● How youth can actively contribute to Brunei’s economic growth
● Opportunities within emerging sectors like agri-tech, fisheries, and eco-tourism
● Policy gaps and reforms needed to empower youth participation
● Bridging innovation and tradition through youth-led entrepreneurship
This town hall is a platform to raise real ideas, challenge assumptions, and co-create the path toward a Brunei that values not only its natural resources — but its youth as a force for economic resilience and innovation.
