Description

Discovering the Myths and Wonders of Chinese New Year

The story at the core of Chinese New Year is about saying goodbye to the past year and welcoming the new year. It continues to shape many resolutions and give hope for the year ahead. But why do the Chinese celebrate the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) the way they do, and why is it so important to usher in the New Year? Why do people put up red decorations, light firecrackers and give red packets, and what are the taboos to avoid? How did the 12 zodiac animals come about? And what should you do to prepare yourself for an auspicious year, regardless of your zodiac animal?

Join Veronne Tan, a passionate storyteller, as she shares her stories about Chinese New Year!

This talk is presented in collaboration with ACE Seniors.
