About this event


In this course, participants will be taught some key techniques on upcycling items such as household and items that you may re-purpose. Participants will explore the creation of unique art from upcycled materials.

Course Objectives:

Participants would be introduced to the art of upcycling and repurposing of items in their everyday lives.

Topics Covered:

Session 1 : Introduction to sculpturing and the understanding of materials such as cardboard. Introduction to various techniques for sculpturing

Session 2 : Creating details on basic form with various upcycled materials such as cardboard, household objects that would otherwise be discarded

Session 3 : Binding built form with texturing materials

Session 4 : Painting and Finishing

*Please note that sharp cutting tools and hot glue would be involved in this workshop.
As painting of the works will be done, participants are advised to dress appropriately.

Learning Outcomes:

Using the various techniques taught in upcycling items to create decorative items for home or as gifts

Participants will learn to create their own artwork and special gifts using existing items they have at home.

Participants will learn to reduce their carbon footprints by repurposing the existing items through the creation of art.

Course fee:

$150 | $30 for seniors eligible for National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy*

*NSA subsidy is for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 50 and above.


Course fee may be offset by ^SkillsFuture Credit (SFC). First, course participants are to make payment for the course through Brahm Centre Eventbrite page, followed by claim with SFC. Brahm Centre will reimburse the amount that is successfully claim upon receipt of the funds from SFC. More details on SFC will be provided upon registration.


• Please note that payments for courses are non-refundable.

• There are no make-up lessons if you miss any session.

• If you miss the first session, you are allowed to proceed with the course. However, the trainer is not obligated to do a recap during the second session.

Trainer Profile:

David Liew is a book illustrator and sculptor who works with upcycled and repurposed materials. A crafter who had been active in the maker movement, his work focuses on repurposing one-use disposable items such as cardboard boxes.
