Stories, Style and Substance: Illustrating Children's Books

You'll just be illustrating for children; how hard can that be, right?

Join in for this half-day masterclass by award-winning illustrator Aldy Aguirre and discover what it takes to create engaging illustrations for children's books, while exploring your own unique illustration style along the way. Get a better grasp of industry practices and learn more about what it means to be an illustrator for children's content.

About Aldy Aguirre:

Aldy is a Manila- based freelance artist and illustrator. His award-winning work with children’s books and illustrations has been recognized by the Philippine Board on Books for the Young People and National Book Development Board, ILUSTRARTE, and Sharjah Exhibition. Si Kian, illustrated by Aldy, was recently added to the White Ravens Catalog by the International Youth Library in Munich, Germany.

  • Tickets to lectures, masterclassses and other festival programmes are sold separately. Please see below for ticketing links.

About The Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC):

AFCC is an annual festival that celebrates and aims to promote the creation, development and appreciation of quality Asian content for children and young adults. Organised by the Singapore Book Council, the festival comprises presentations, panels, masterclasses, lectures and workshops, for literary practitioners and enthusiasts alike.

It is a unique event in Asia that provides an opportunity for academics, writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, distributors, parents, teachers, and librarians to meet, learn, hone their craft, and develop cross-cultural collaborations.
