The Asian Festival of Children's Content (AFCC) returns for its 14th edition as a full in-person event from 25 - 28 May 2023.

We mark the theme "Play!" this year, celebrating the buoyancy and playfulness of children's stories and books. All 4-Day Festival Pass holders will have access to more than 70 sessions over four days, as we feature more than 100 writers and speakers.

Ordinary Hazards: My Journey With Words

Facilitator: Nikki Grimes

My life with notebooks/began with this/a poem here/an observation there/a rage of red ink–/each sheet of white/a paper haven..."  In this session, Grimes shares excerpts of Ordinary Hazards: A Memoir, as she weaves the story of a writing life that began with a simple love of language and the accidental discovery that writing poetry could—and still does—help her make sense of the world.

Telling Local Stories for a Global Audience: The Highs, Lows and Alamak Nos

Facilitator: Hanna Alkaf

Join Hanna Alkaf in this captivating lecture as she shares her experience of writing local stories that have resonated with readers globally, even amidst cultural differences. Hanna will provide insights on the significance of telling stories in your unique voice and the importance of staying true to your own words.
