Get your torchlights out and keep your eyes peeled for the many activities occurring at night in the Bukit Brown Cemetery! Join long-time Brownie Andrew Lin in this tour that will look at the different graves but more importantly the various activities, practices and rituals that keep this resting place for the dead very much alive after hours!

Meet your guide, Andrew!

Hi everyone, I am Andrew Lin and I am part of the ‘Brownies’. For Singaporeans who think that Bukit Brown Cemetery is ‘dead’, I want to change your mind and show you that the cemetery is very much alive, bursting with stories of the past and the present both in the day and at night!

Even though I have visited Bukit Brown for over a decade, I am still constantly surprised by how it changes with each visit. From bringing previously hidden graves to light to finding pop-up shrines, the place is full of stories and secrets and there is something new to learn every time! If you think you already know Bukit Brown, think again as we venture into Bukit Brown in this after-hours tour and find out what goes on after night falls!

My Community Festival is a ground-up initiative showcasing Singapore’s best kept secrets and community stories through immersive tours, tastings and other cultural and heritage experiences.

4 Things To Know About The Festival

  • It is curated in collaboration with heritage practitioners, business owners, legacy brands as well as a number of religious and cultural institutions.
  • It builds upon the demand for culinary travel, cultural exploration and activity-based travel experiences - evident from the consumption habits of locals and tourists alike.
  • It aims to connect people from all walks of life through the festival platform in the hopes that they may go on to expand their social networks.
  • The festival has taken on an added dimension as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. It serves as a means in which to re-introduce locals back to the island’s ethnic enclaves and to support local, legacy establishments in a triumphant display of resilience as a community. Let’s come together to celebrate the Singaporean spirit after a challenging 2020.
