About this event

Ancient Wisdom for the Uncertain World Retreat is a transformative residential retreat designed to reconnect you with time-honored teachings that speak directly to the challenges of modern life. In a time of global change, personal uncertainty, and rapid disruption, many of us are seeking stability, clarity, and deeper meaning.

Drawing from the spiritual traditions of Buddhism, this retreat offers practical wisdom for cultivating inner resilience, clarity of mind, and compassionate action.

Whether you're navigating personal transitions, burnout, or a sense of disconnection, this retreat is an invitation to ground yourself in enduring wisdom and emerge with a renewed sense of direction and peace.

Option of 5 Days or 9 Days

We’re pleased to offer two ways to experience the Ancient Wisdom for the Uncertain World retreat—so you can choose the one most convenient to you. Be inspired by the wit and wisdom of Ajahn Brahm, and the temple ruins of UNESCO heritage, Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom, Bayon and many other less discovered ones.

Whether you choose the 5-day or the 9-day path, you’ll leave with grounded insights and practical tools to meet the world and your life. You may choose to observe SILENCE during the retreats.

This is a RESIDENTIAL RETREAT. Staying somewhere else is NOT an option.

ABOUT Ajahn Brahm

Ajahn Brahmavamso Mahathera was born Peter Betts in London, United Kingdom on August 7, 1951. He came from a working-class background, and won a scholarship to study Theoretical Physics at Cambridge University in the late 1960s. After graduating from Cambridge he taught in high school for one year before travelling to Thailand to become a monk and train with the Venerable Ajahn Chah Bodhinyana Mahathera.

Whilst still in his years as a junior monk, he was asked to undertake the compilation of an English-language guide to the Buddhist monastic code - the Vinaya - which later became the basis for monastic discipline in many Theravadan monasteries in Western countries.

Ajahn Brahm is the popular Buddhist teacher to a growing international audience of people keen to learn meditation and develop a deeper spiritual understanding. He is also the founder of the Australian forest tradition of Buddhist monasticism focused on being true to the original roots of the Buddha's Teaching of Dhamma and Vinaya. He does not handle cash nor travel with credit cards or a mobile phone.
