Curious about jazz? Swing by for a special night of jazz music and dance as The Rhythmakers swing both traditional jazz tunes as well as local traditional songs for your listening and dancing (and singing!) pleasure.

In lieu of the usual dance taster workshop, there will be a music taster workshop instead, giving you an introduction and insight into how jazz music works, and understanding how the blues works in jazz. Thereafter, the band will present 2 sets of swinging tunes for your listening and dancing pleasure.

Programme:

815pm - Doors open

830-9pm - Introduction to Jazz and the Blues Music Workshop

9-11pm - Bands sets and social dancing (2nd set at 1015pm, open to music jammers/singers)

The Rhythmakers is the house band for Jazz Inc, a collective championing traditional jazz arts. The band is led by Sinclair Ang (vocals), and joined by Amanda Lee (piano), Leo Jeoh (trombone), Hiroaki Maekawa (bass), Raf Soundwalker (drums)

In June 2022, the iconic Singapore music venue Blu Jaz reopened its live music program with the Jazz Loft, located on the 3rd floor of it’s premises at Bali Lane.

The mission of this new space, is to showcase jazz, and improvisation, as an evolving art form, rather than a museum-piece, presenting those artists, both local and international, that are part of the forward motion, and artistic development of the music.
