A joint webinar by the INSEAD Alumni Global Energy Club, Climate Governance Initiative and INSEAD Corporate Governance Center

About this event

Why boards have to lead the way amidst the changing landscape of energy transition, climate change and decarbonisation? What is the best course and speed of change they have to lead? The last quarter of 2021 is marked by movements in global energy and carbon markets requiring increased competence for truly informed decisions by boards.

The INSEAD Alumni Global Energy Club, the Climate Governance Initiative and INSEAD Corporate Governance Center are pleased to present a new instalment of the Ambition Net Zero webinar series.

Join Adam Matthews, Co-Director of the Investment Team, Church of England Pensions Board, Karina Litvack, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Climate Governance Initiative, and Ron Soonieus, Senior Advisor at Boston Consulting Group, Executive in Residence at INSEAD Corporate Governance Center for a timely debate on one of the most pressing topics on boards’ agenda.

Adam Matthews is responsible for Ethics and Engagement for the Church of England Pensions Board. He is also the Chair of the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) and a Board Member of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, (IIGCC). He co-leads engagement with Royal Dutch Shell on behalf of the global investor engagement initiative, Climate Action 100+, that led to the 2018 joint statement on climate targets agreed between Shell and institutional investors and Shell’s 2021 Net Zero Commitment.

Karina Litvack, has been a non-Executive Director in Eni since May 2014. She is currently non-Executive Chairman of the Sustainability Board Committee of Viridor Waste Management Ltd, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Climate Governance Initiative, a member of the Board of Governors of the CFA Institute, a member of the Advisory Council for Transparency International UK and a member of the Senior Advisory Panel of Critical Resource.

Ron Soonieus advises senior management and boards to set their sustainability and ESG agenda and to integrate these topics into the heart of corporate strategy, governance and culture. As Executive in Residence at INSEAD he focusses on ‘the role of the board on sustainability / ESG’ in cooperation with the INSEAD Corporate Governance Centre and the Hoffmann Global Institute for Business and Society. Ron co-founded the Radix Centre for Business Politics and Society, a thinktank focused on aligning public policy with responsible business.
