Puttnam School of Film & Animation, LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore

The Puttnam School of Film & Animation provides undergraduate and diploma programmes in a range of areas of specialisation appropriate to existing and emerging media art practices and creative industries. It offers programmes in Animation, Broadcast Media, and Film. All programmes emphasise the inherent multi-disciplinarity of all areas of specialisation, the integration and utilisation of emerging technologies, and a thorough understanding of these technologies and their impact on art and culture.

Asia, with its amazing economic growth, provides fantastic new opportunities for creative practice at the crossroads of art, media and technology. Singapore plays an increasingly significant role and contribution in this process.

The School is equipped with industry-ready facilities to meet professional demands. The vocational programmes adopt best industry practices, not only provide the learning environment for exciting studies of media art within a rich academic environment, but also the launch pad for successful careers in media industries. Cross-programme opportunities are aplenty – from Acting and Musical Theatre to Fashion and Music.

Strategic partnerships with industry heavyweight UbiSoft and Lucasfilm provide invaluable live working experiences for our students. They engage with industry practitioners at Masterclasses and are also mentored by established artist-educators. Collectively, students’ films from all programmes are screened prolifically globally, including Festival Internacional de Animacion, Digicon Animation and Film Awards (Singapore), and European Union Film Festival.

Illustrious alumni include award-winning creative practitioners in Singapore and beyond: Filmmaker Boo Junfeng (Cannes Film Festival, International Critics’ Week); James Khoo (Writer & Director of Best Short Film, Hentak Kaki at Singapore International Film Festival); Installation artist Ryf Zaini (iLight Festival/President’s Young Talents) and Elvin Siew (Technical Director, Industrial Light & Magic).
