Description

Art Therapy in Palliative Care: Why it matters

Within palliative care, art therapy supports patients and family in different ways. Art provides a safe avenue to connect and make sense, especially when emotions feel raw and terrifying, and words become awkward and inadequate.

We will look at two case studies in this session - 'How an elderly patient engaged creatively to think about death' and 'A grieving child without a chance to say Good-Bye'. Both cases bring us to ponder about the systemic issues in a home care setting as we support patients and their families towards facing death and dying.

Audience in the session will have a chance to experience art in bridging thoughts and feelings. This process aims to enhance self-awareness and our connection with patients and family.

Lunch reception would be provided from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and the session would commence at 1:00 pm.
