Join artist Victoria Hertel for a walkthrough of darkmode, a responsive installation that explores sensory perception and technology’s responsiveness. In this informal session, Victoria shares insights into the materials, embedded systems, and the conceptual framework behind her work. You’ll be able to learn how sensors, microcontrollers, and mechanical motion are used to translate environmental stimuli into poetic, adaptive gestures. The walkthrough will conclude with an open Q&A, offering visitors a chance to discuss the piece, ask technical or artistic questions, and delve deeper into the processes that shape it.
This workshop is a programme complementary to Portals, an innovative visual arts exhibition that bridges Singapore's wartime history with creative technology at the Battlebox. This workshop and Portals are programmes of cmd.exe ("command prompt"), a new platform that explores the convergence of heritage and creative technology. The exhibition runs from 28 March to 29 June 2025. More details of the exhibition, and its public programmes can be found at cmdexe.art.
