About this Event

Diabetes, obesity and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are worldwide challenge. Asia-Pacific ethnicities are particularly prone to a particularly high prevalence of diabetes and gestational diabetes.

This meeting brings together clinicians, nurses and health professionals to discuss on Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), obesity and metabolic diseases for women and children in our Asia-Pacific region. The best preventive efforts start upstream from preconception and at conception in the womb to the early childhood years and thus the optimal strategy for Singapore current ‘War on Diabetes’ must necessarily begin with effective battles against diabetes and obesity with lifestyle and obstetric and perinatal interventions at this early phase.

The programme will discuss maternal and child metabolic health. It will also feature the launch of the Singaporean Integrated 24-Hour Movement Guidelines on Children and Adolescents. On the second day, the programme will invite the Asia Pacific and regional experts to discuss on the exercise and movement guidelines in children and adolescent as well as discuss on future research to address the current gaps in women’s metabolic health in Asia-Oceania.

The conference programme can be found here: http://perinatal.sg/prog.pdf

We encourage all health professionals working on diabetes, obesity & metabolic diseases in pregnancy, children and adolescents to sign up for the event on 8th January 2021!
