About this event

  • Event lasts 1 day 7 hours

The 3rd edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly will be held as a 2-day international conference between July 4 and 5 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand. The event is co-located with ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week, one of ASEAN's largest and most comprehensive International Exhibition and Conferences on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Energy Storage and Environmental Technology. In 2023, ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week had more than 28.000 visitors from 61 countries, including 6.600 conference delegates, making it one of the best meeting platforms in the region to get updates on market developments, technologies, financing, explore project opportunities and much more.

Most countries in the Asia-Pacific region have set net-zero GHG targets by 2050, and this year's edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly is themed" Towards a Net Zero Future in the Asia-Pacific" and aims to present, discuss and explore energy solutions that can support the energy transition and help countries achieve stated climate targets. The good news is that Renewable Energy resources in the APAC region are vast, and Southeast Asia alone has 17.2 TW of Renewable Energy resources available. For example, using only 1% of available Solar PV resources in Thailand would cover the country's total power production capacity of 49 GW.

To achieve stated climate targets, it is important to address the world's growing cooling demand. Today, space cooling stands for 10% of the world's GHG emissions, and with increased temperatures due to global warming and population and economic growth, the cooling demand is expected to triple by 2050, if no action is taken. The majority of the growing cooling demand comes from Asia, and cooling is sometimes called the elephant in the waiting room, referring to its importance in the energy transition. It is now time to move the elephant out of the waiting room.

The 3rd edition of the Asia Urban Energy Assembly will discuss how public and private sectors can prepare for the future by applying today's technology and solutions to increase energy efficiency and integrate more renewable energy into our society. The event will also explore how District Energy systems can be an important tool to address the growing cooling demand in the Asia Pacific region. The expected audience includes energy professionals from the public and private sectors, including utilities, government officials, policymakers, developers, consultants, investors, international organizations, universities, and more.
