Taimur BAIG, Ph.D., heads economics as well as macro strategy for interest rate, credit, currency, and equities at DBS Group Research. He also advises the bank on risk management and investment strategy.

Prior to joining DBS, Dr. Baig was a Principal Economist in the Economic Policy Group, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Earlier he spent nine years at Deutsche Bank’s Singapore office, where his last position was Managing Director and Chief Economist, Asia.

Before Deutsche Bank, he was based in Washington, DC, at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund, for eight years, where his last position was Senior Economist.

Dr. Baig has published extensively for both specialists and a general audience, on areas including monetary policy in a deflationary environment, exchange rate regime determination, demographics, energy sector, frontier markets, fiscal policy efficacy, and financial market contagion.

Dr. Baig sits as a council member for the Asian Financial Think Tank, Economic Society of Singapore, and Women’s World Banking.

Dr. Baig holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He attended London School of Economics and Wabash College for his B.A. in Economics.

David LEE Kuo Chuen is a professor at the Singapore University of Social Sciences and Adjunct Professor at the National University of Singapore. His other appointments are the founder of BlockAsset Ventures, the Chairman of Global Fintech Institute, Vice President of the Economic Society of Singapore, Co-founder of Blockchain Association of Singapore, and Council Member of British Blockchain Association. He has 20 years of experience as CEOs and Independent Directors of listed and tech companies and is a consultant and advisor to international organisations on food supply chain, blockchain, FinTech and Digital Currency.

Darius LIU has over 15 years’ experience in the public and private sectors. This diversity of career experiences has allowed Darius to effectively blend different perspectives and drive strategic transformation initiatives in government bodies and financial institutions.

As Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of iSTOX, Darius was instrumental in building iSTOX from its early stages to the regulated financial institution it is today. Currently, Darius oversees day-to-day operations of the company, including commercial growth via investor and issuer recruitment and onboarding. Darius also serves as Board Director and member of the Board Audit and Risk Committee of the company.

Prior to joining iSTOX, Darius held various roles at GIC, and was most recently Vice President of Total Portfolio Strategy (TPS) in the Economics and Investment Strategy department. Darius was a recipient of the Public Service Commission Overseas Merit Scholarship and has served in the Singapore Government, including in Singapore’s Ministry of Defence (where he was Head of Strategic and Operational Planning), and the Investment and Reserves department of Singapore’s Ministry of Finance.

Darius graduated top of his class at Cornell University, where he earned a BSc and MSc in Mechanical Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Rajeev TUMMALA is a Director in Digital and Data team for HSBC’s Markets & Securities Services Business in Singapore. He joined HSBC in April 2018. He works on the product strategy, implementation, interacts with clients and industry counterparts in regional markets on the overall digital agenda in support of HSBC strategy.

He has been involved primarily in shaping up the agenda for servicing of Digital Assets with Markets and Securities Services. He is engaged with Clients, Financial Market infrastructure providers on implications of DLT for and securities issuance and associated asset servicing.

He was with Bank of America Merrill Lynch for 10 years prior to joining HSBC and was in various leadership positions in their Asia Global Markets Technology and Securities Operations Transformation teams.

He is a business technologist with a keen eye for exploring the effective use of emerging capabilities of technology in Capital Markets & Securities Services. He has worked with Broker Dealers and Securities Service Technology providers for over 20 years (in India, Japan and Singapore) across a range of Innovation, Technology, Data, Change and Service delivery roles. His focus has been on business transformation and has deep experience in business and technology strategy, transformation and cost optimization.

Since 2015, Rajeev has focused on innovation, applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and distributed ledger technology (DLT) on Securities Services and has had responsibility for engaging with Fintech start-ups related to AI and DLT solutions.

Rajeev has an MBA (High Honour’s) from Booth School of Business, University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Engineering from BITS-Pilani in India.

Emir HRNJIC is Head of FinTech Training and Senior Research Fellow of the Asian Institute of Digital Finance, National University of Singapore (NUS). He transferred from NUS Business School where he is teaching in several programs including “UCLA–NUS Executive MBA.” Prior to that, Dr. Emir served as CEO of CIBFM (a training arm of Monetary Authority of Brunei Darussalam) from 2016 to 2017.

During his career, he has published a number of case studies with Asian perspective which are widely used at the top universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Cornell, and Chicago, among many others.

Dr. Emir has been involved in several consulting projects including litigation consulting and FinTech / Blockchain consulting.

Born in Bosnia and citizen of Singapore, Dr. Emir obtained a Ph.D. in Finance from Tulane University in 2005 and has held research and teaching positions at Tulane University, Virginia Tech University, and National University of Singapore.

Jin-Chuan DUAN is the Jardine Cycle & Carriage Professor of Finance and the Executive Director of the Asian Institute of Digital Finance at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Prof Duan received a PhD in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is an academician of Academia Sinica, a fellow of the Society for Financial Econometrics, and an advisory board member of the International Association of Credit Portfolio Managers. Prior to joining NUS, he held the Manulife Chair in Financial Services at Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Being a leading expert and enthusiast on credit risk modeling, Prof Duan pioneered the Credit Research Initiative (CRI) in 2009 while he was the director of the Risk Management Institute, and has been leading the CRI team since its inception. CRI is a "public good" endeavor providing freely accessible, daily updated default probabilities on roughly 80,000 exchange-listed firms in 133 economies globally. In 2017, he co-founded CriAT, a FinTech company specializing in deep credit analytical solutions for financial institutions, and serves as its non-executive chairman.
