Older adults are consistently looking for programmes to help them age actively. Through the experience that IGA had with the development of their GRACE programme, this workshop will empower one with the knowledge to draw on adult learning theories to develop an active ageing programme. This workshop will also introduce the concept of community of practice and how we can transit the active ageing participants to form their own community of practice to continue life long learning.

Target audience:

Those who are in charge of active ageing programme development or those who are currently managing active ageing participants

Objectives of workshop:

i) Understand adult learning theories and how to use that in the construct of active ageing courses

ii) Appreciate what a community of practice is and the principles involved in creating one

iii) Examine the resources required to implement a COP and discuss feasibility

iv) Adopt a practical approach to implement COP for the active ageing participants

v) Pick up facilitation skills that can transform practice
