Description
Many workshops are activity focused - the instructor paints something, you paint that same thing and everybody goes home with a painting. This class differs because its focus is SKILL. Instructor Leach will teach you HOW to paint with watercolours, as well as how to specifically apply your new skills to paint in a cafe with limited resources. We will be concentrating on painting what's on the table - food, drink, decorations etc.
What you will gain from this class:
-
A comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of watercolour tools and materials.
-
Basic watercolour skills such as brush techniques, wet in wet, wet in dry, negative painting, lifting, salt application, splattering, dry brush techniques, as well as watercolour washes.
-
Sketching and painting styles - loose vs tight
-
Observation and composition tips.
-
Using details, texture, contrast and artistic license.
-
Secret tips to successful water control and colour mixing.
-
Troubleshooting methods so you can improve independently.
What you will take home:
-
One water brush
-
A palette of artist quality and art student quality paints
-
A folder of exclusive notes
All other art materials will be provided during class. These include: watercolours, watercolour pencils, watercolour paper, brushes, water containers, rags, masking tape, pencils, erasers, references pictures.
Refreshments are also provided.
NOTE: You're welcome to bring your own sketchbook or materials if you own any, as well as artwork for critique.
Class Cancellation Policy: In the event where the minimum number of attendees required to start class is not met, the workshop will be cancelled, participants will be notified at least 2 days prior, and a full refund will be made.
About Leach
Leach is the art teacher you wished you had in school!
In a market sometimes plagued with artists who can't teach and instructors who can't paint, Leach stands out as both a superb Artist and an excellent teacher. She is generous, funny and passionate about teaching art to people who don't believe they can do it. Essentially self-taught, she is unencumbered by art school rules and prejudices, and is particularly effective and patient with children and adults who are absolute beginners.
Previously a Lecturer at a Gemological institute, she has been teaching for over 15 years. Now an Artist, she has taught hundreds of people and worked with many corporations, including Naiise, Armour Publishing, Evason Six Senses and the National Gallery of Singapore. She volunteers regularly at primary schools for arts education and literacy programs.
