Care-Full Shelter: A Grandma Story in Three Seats
Interactive Performance Programming for Public Seating Design
As part of the Care-Full Shelter showcase, this intimate, site-specific performance titled Careful Shelter — A Grandma Story in Three Seats brings the public into a moving reflection on care — from childhood memory to communal togetherness and ecological awareness.
Co-created by Laura Kee and Justin Loke and performed by Laura Kee, this 30-minute storytelling experience unfolds across the showcase's three scaled bamboo stools — Small, Medium, and Large — each serving as a stage for a different chapter of care. Drawing inspiration from a grandmother’s feeding stool, the performance moves from quiet introspection to shared memory and finally to a collective call for environmental care. Audience interaction is gently woven into the script, creating space for connection, language, and pause.
Held on site, the work transforms the design showcase into a stage and shelter, turning sculpture into story, and public space into a moment of presence.
