About this Event

Speaker: A/Prof Tan Bhing Leet, Singapore University of Technology & Design

In a study done by Singapore Management University and Alzheimer's Disease Association, 3 in 4 persons with dementia felt rejected and lonely. It is important when caring for a loved one with dementia, to use the right language, display empathy and patience. Caring for a loved one with dementia poses many challenges for families and caregivers. A/Prof Tan Bhing Leet will share with us how we can better understand dementia patients, and provide caregivers with tips for self-care and practical strategies for dealing with the troubling behavior problems and communication difficulties often encountered when caring for a person with dementia.. There will be a live Q&A after the talk.

A/Prof Bhing-Leet Tan is Programme Director (Occupational Therapy) and Deputy Cluster Director (Health and Social Sciences) at the Singapore Institute of Technology. She is a registered occupational therapist and specialises in the area of mental health.
