About the exhibition

While Carnival is now associated with Christian traditions, its origins predate Christianity, tracing back to ancient pagan celebrations. Historical findings suggest that Carnival’s might have originated as far as 5,000 years ago in ancient Egypt or Greece, where early civilizations marked seasonal changes with large gatherings, communal feasts and rituals, many of which can be seen in today’s Carnival traditions. So with this in mind we asked our artists to come together and show the magic and history of the carnival through their eyes and vision.
