The current linear economy based on the take, make and dispose model is long overdue for a revamp. More businesses and start-ups are making moderate changes to their business model in order to become greener. In order to truly make long lasting change, there is a need for more businesses to embrace and be a part of the circular economy. In this session of Breakthrough, hear from three ecopreneurs who have mastered the art of reuse and have succeeded in repurposing one man’s waste into another man’s treasure.

About our speakers

Nejla Matam-Finn is the founder and mastermind behind award-winning sustainable luxury fashion re-commerce platform, THE FIFTH COLLECTION. Her extensive global experience garnered from her French, Swiss and Algerian roots and 16 years of living and working in Asia, coupled with her deep knowledge of consumer behaviour in high-end luxury brands, gave her the inspiration to start her own luxury trading platform specialized in vintage fashion.

Eddie Lim is the co-founder and CEO of Thryft, Singapore's largest online second-hand bookstore. Unlike ordinary bookstores, users can also trade-in their used books for credits to buy other books, or donate their credits to charities. His team's vision is to make literacy more affordable and accessible while doing good for both the community and the planet.

Stephanie Colhag Yeo is half Swedish, half Chinese born and bred in Singapore. She is the founder and CEO of Outfyt. She majored in Communications and speaks three languages. With entrepreneurial parents, business ideas were always the topic of discussion during dinner so naturally, she grew up always wanting to run her own business.

About THE FIFTH COLLECTION

THE FIFTH COLLECTION is the most trusted sustainable luxury fashion re-commerce platform in Southeast Asia. Launched in 2014, the platform makes it easy and safe for individuals to buy and sell luxury fashion online through innovative authentication technology, outstanding customer service and strong guarantees. Customers save money, enjoy higher quality products and live greener lives. The award-winning service and technology have made THE FIFTH COLLECTION Singapore’s best kept secret for fashionistas.

About Thryft

At Thryft, we believe in creating a sustainable reading culture by extending the shelf life of each book. Instead of piling up more titles at home, we give second-hand books new lives to be loved and read again. This way, you don't have to purchase brand new copies that you might only read once or twice, and you’ll be helping to build a circular economy with minimal wastage.

About Outfyt

Outfyt was created for women to maximise their confidence when working out. Majority of the pieces are influenced by Scandinavian design, marked by a focus on clean, simple lines, minimalism, and functionality. The Outfyt design style is less trend-driven and more time-driven, with sustainability at its core.
