Take the staircase beside Aladdin's castle, a coffee shop at the corner of Peace Centre. <h3>Featured writers:</h3> Crispin Rodrigues is the author of three collections of poetry and is the co-editor of an anthology of Singapore young poets, Crazy Little Pyromaniacs. He is currently working on his next poetry collection about his mixed-race heritage and monstrosity. Prasanthi Ram is a full-time writing lecturer, and the co-founder and fiction editor of Mahogany Journal. Her debut work of fiction Nine Yard Sarees was released this year (Ethos Books; 2023). Tricia Tan is a poet, medical student and mental health advocate. Her writing has been published in Poetry.sg, The Straits Times and Acumen Poetry, among others. Her debut collection of medical poetry, Patient History, is forthcoming with Ethos Books in 2024. She is an alumni of Nanyang Technological University’s Asia Creative Writing Programme for poetry, and was a finalist for Sing Lit Station’s Manuscript Bootcamp. She passionate about the intersection of medicine, mental health and poetry. She is an Orygen Global Youth Mental Health Fellow, and has worked with organisations such as UNICEF, ASEAN, and the Singapore government. She writes as a way of being patient with the histories of others and her own. Mok Zining is obsessed with random things: orchids, arabesques, sand. Her first book, The Orchid Folios (Ethos Books, 2020), was shortlisted for the 2022 Singapore Literature Prize in English Poetry. Currently, she edits for Ethos books and is at work on an essay collection, The Earthmovers. Theophilus Kwek has published four poetry collections, two of which were shortlisted for the Singapore Literature Prize. His poems, essays, reviews and translations have appeared in The Guardian, Times Literary Supplement, Mekong Review, Modern Poetry in Translation, and elsewhere. He has also collaborated with composers and artists on work for the Royal Opera House and other venues in the UK and Singapore. His most recent book is Moving House (Carcanet Press). A Thryft x Ethos Books collaboration About ThryftThryft is an online and offline sustainable thrift store, that believes in creating an impact by recirculating used books and clothes, and contributing to meaningful social and environmental causes in the region. Second Story: Peace Edition is to date our biggest pop up, a cluster of six whole units in Peace Centre containing thousands of books and clothes for quality, affordable thrifting.
