Join us for a free workshop on chamber music by the nonesuch.reedquintet, where they will explore the following topics!
How chamber music operates in preparation and performance, without a conductor:
- Introduction to the reed quintet ensemble (oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet, bassoon)
- How the group communicates without words
- Rehearsal process - trialing musical ideas
- Performing repertoire for the reed quintet, including arrangements and original compositions
- Question & Answer session
Repertoire includes- arrangements of masterworks like 'Rhapsody in Blue' (George Gershwin), 'Waldszenen' (Robert Schumann), and original compositions like 'Rites for the Afterlife' (Stacy Garrop), and 'Suite from a non-existent Ballet' (Shane Valle).
Based in Eugene, Oregon, the nonesuch.reedquintet is a professional chamber ensemble dedicated to sharing the joy of music through engaging performances and educational presentations in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. nonesuch.reedquintet is passionate about bringing inspiring music programs to schools in our region, hoping to spark a love for chamber music in the next generation of music students.
