The LSE Alumni Association of Singapore with the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Singapore, in partnership with Art Works Gallery (Singapore) are pleased to host a private exhibition tour and reception of Chaos & Sanctuary, a group exhibition featuring four UK-based emerging Chinese painters: Shangyu (Mary) Cai, Xinyu Han, Xi Liu, and Qian Zhong.
Held in the heart of Holland Village, this landmark exhibition spotlights a new generation of female artists shaping the future of contemporary painting. At once intimate and universal, their practices reflect a shared fascination with human emotion and the fragile states between turbulence and tranquility. The title evokes the duality of Chaos & Sanctuary: how opposites coexist, often separated only by a fine line.
Exhibited internationally in London, Zurich, Milan, Shanghai, and beyond, Cai, Han, Zhong, and Liu represent a new generation of artists whose perspectives transcend borders. Chaos & Sanctuary marks the first time their works will be presented together in Singapore, offering audiences a rare glimpse of a rising international cohort.
The special exhibition tour will be led by Marie Deneux, the Artist Liaison at Art Works. As the primary correspondent with the artists, she provides key insights into the inspiration and visions of each artist as they grow and evolve within their practices. She holds an MA in Arts Management and an MA in European and International Governance, and has developed a diverse background in arts management across Europe and Singapore.
Founded in 2011, Art Works Group provides comprehensive art solutions, from consultancy and advisory services to bespoke collecting strategies for private and corporate clients. In 2023, the group launched Art Works Gallery at One Holland Village. Dedicated to showcasing an avant-garde selection of the most compelling emerging international artists, the gallery serves as a hub for discovery and dialogue.
