Classroom Livestream

Join this program to expand your understanding of ocean exploration and science, and share the wonders of the ocean with your students! This Classroom Livestream will be taking place in the midst of a 24-day international deep-sea mission to the Monsoon Rise, an unexplored seamount chain in the eastern Indian Ocean, in partnership with the National University of Singapore.

To register, you should:

• Be a school teacher or educator who teaches students at the primary or secondary school level. Registrants will be required to sign up with an email address affiliated with a school, institutional body, or education organization.

• Have a desire to bring ocean education to your classroom.

• Have access to a stable WiFi connection to ensure an optimal experience.

• Have access to a closed venue/room to stream the session, so that the audience can hear the speakers clearly.

What you can expect:

• A 30-minute virtual session on why and how we explore the ocean, conducted on Zoom.

• The opportunity for students to learn about OceanX and its mission to explore the ocean and bring it back to the world through cutting-edge technologies and storytelling.
• The opportunity for students to meet scientists from Southeast Asia and the Pacific on board the research vessel.

• The opportunity for students to ask questions and chat with experts and team members about ocean exploration.
• This Classroom Livestream will be delivered in the English language.

Notes:

• For the best experience, you will require a computer or laptop that can project to a screen for a classroom of students to participate collectively.

• Please ensure that your students will be available for the session that you have signed up for.

• Please register using an email address affiliated with a school, institutional body, or education organization. Any invalid registrations will not be accepted.
• We recommend that educators join in the Zoom Meeting 5-mins prior to the Classroom Livestream to test audio-visial settings.

About the Mission

OceanX and the National University of Singapore have launched a 24-day international deep-sea mission to the Monsoon Rise, an unexplored seamount chain in the eastern Indian Ocean. The expedition, Singapore’s first major deep-sea voyage since the UN High Seas Treaty (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction Agreement), brings together scientists from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Fiji aboard the advanced research vessel OceanXplorer. Using submersibles, remotely operated vehicles, and environmental DNA tools, the team will map over 17,000 km² of deep-sea terrain and establish the region’s first biodiversity baseline.
