Event description
As a Covid-19 precaution, we will be staggering groups of 5 at our adopted site for 2021!

About this Event

☞ REGISTRATION IS COMPULSORY BY 13 MARCH, 12PM!

With careful planning and permission from NParks, we are happy to head back out to the mangroves for a clean-up in March.

Join us for an evening (yay for the late-risers!) cleanup in the mangroves of Eagle Point, where we'll aim to rid the shoreline of marine debris, collect data, and learn about our impact on the environment!

See for yourself the alarming issue of human-made trash on our shores where shore birds, mudskippers, fish, horseshoe crabs, and other marine wildlife thrive. We're not saying we'll be able to rid our shores of every bit of human trash, but every helping hand counts. Especially if we can change the way we think about consumption and our place in the environment.

Beginners and plastic lovers welcome! Bring your family, friends, and some good energy :D Trash bags, kiddie tongs, gloves, and data cards will be provided.

MEETING TIME: 4PM (Please be punctual. Only responsible volunteers welcome!)

MEETING POINT: Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Visitor Centre, 60 Kranji Way, Singapore 739453 (google map pin: https://goo.gl/maps/R6qer5zjYbFVfBJZ6)

If you are no longer able to join the clean up, PLEASE CANCEL your ticket so that others can! DO NOT bring any unregistered individuals along as we have to stick to small group sizes. Extras will be turned away.

COVID-19 measure: Registrants are expected to be well and not have travelled out of Singapore in the last 2 weeks. If you are sick or have come into physical contact with infected persons — wait for next one la. Groups of 5 will be distributed along the site so inter-group contact is negligible. Volunteers will be contacted before the cleanup for an online briefing, so please check your emails! See MOH guidelines for more info on precautions to take.

BRING/WEAR

  • Face mask (compulsory)
  • Safety gloves (if you have, ideally ones with rubber palms)
  • 1 pen (compulsory)
  • Water to hydrate (at least 1L)
  • Cap or hat
  • Long sleeves / trousers to guard against mozzies, sunburn, and unruly vegetation
  • Dive booties or completely covered, hard-soled shoes during the cleanup. Strictly no flip flops or crocs.

NOTE

  • Volunteers MUST view the online briefing materials before attending.
  • Minimum age requirement: 10 years old. Suitable for experienced hands and gung-ho newbies keen to see Singapore from her shores.
  • Nearest restroom is at Visitor Centre, so volunteers are recommended to head to the loo before setting off to the site!
