How do you want to get there?
Topic #1: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
Students will kick off the workshop by exploring the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it recognizes patterns, particularly in face recognition technology. Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, they will learn how AI identifies faces using nodal points and pixel patterns. A hands-on pattern recognition game and live face detection demo will help students visualize these concepts. They will also experiment with AI-powered face tracking using a webcam to see how computers analyze and detect faces in real time.
Topic #2: Training and Integrating a Face Recognition Model
Building on their understanding from Topic #1, students will train their own AI model using Teachable Machine, teaching it to recognize different faces. They will then integrate their trained model into Scratch, programming interactive projects where characters respond to detected faces. For an extra challenge, students will modify their projects to create real-world applications, such as a face-controlled game, an unlock system, or an AI-powered attendance tracker. The day will conclude with an engaging discussion on AI’s future impact and a fun mini-quiz to reinforce their learning.
