About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

In this storytelling and collage session, author and artist Joanna Maneckji will present her groundbreaking tale, “Letters to My Grandfather,” a beautifully illustrated storybook about a child’s everlasting love for their grandparent. Loss, love and hope are the themes discussed and children and adults will find a language and response to deal with the loss of a loved one.

Children and adults will have the opportunity to pose questions and to get to know the author better. Learn more about how to make a collage and then create your own handmade bookmark. Joanna will also be available to sign books.

This programme is suitable for children aged 7 - 12, and parents are encouraged to accompany their children.

About the Presenter
JOANNA MANECKJI is a Singaporean author, educator and artist who transforms seemingly random pieces of paper into expressive works of art that challenge perceptions, spark joy and promote self-understanding. Soon after her son began to walk, Joanna made her first collage as a creative outlet that brought meditative focus and calm, then, when her father died, she turned to collage again to process grief. Fifteen years later, her debut storybook "Letters to My Grandfather" is a product of that journey.
