David Lee, Principal Trainer
Master of Technology (Knowledge Engineering) - NUS
David graduated with a Master of Technology from NUS where he explored A.I. technologies and optimisation algorithms.
He has 12 years of experience in the IT industry and has designed and programmed enterprise systems. He was most recently a Project Manager with one of the world’s largest investment banks where he managed and executed projects building online and mobile banking solutions.
David is a registered instructor with MOE and has coached students in Changkat Primary, Red Swastika Primary, Teck Ghee Primary, Rulang Primary and Poi Ching Primary (and more!) in Scratch Programming as part of the Code for Fun initiative. He conducts programming holiday camps and regular coding classes at the Grandstand (previously Turf City).

1. What is the Student to Teacher ratio?
The student to teacher ratio is generally 8 to 1. Computhink classes are kept small so that we are able to give individual attention to the child’s learning pace.

3. There are so many types of coding classes out there, which programming language and course is best for my child?
As a responsible parent, you want your child to learn the best computer programming and coding skills possible to ensure a bright career future. Yet all the choices can seem overwhelming. Scratch? Python? HTML? Our Programmer Teachers are highly skilled in assessing your child’s innate computer skills as well as their interest level in each of our different classes.
Simply sign up to our programme and we’ll help you and your child decide which classes are the best choices for skill and interest levels. Computer technology changes at the speed of light, so we are always updating our classes to ensure we are sharing the most current skills and programmes. There truly is something here for every child’s skill and interest level.
4. Why will my child need weekly classes?
We’ve designed our programmes to encourage the highest information retention possible in each and every child. After working with and assessing over 400 children from a variety of public and private classes, we discovered that weekly 1.5 hour classes increase a child’s information retention of computer programming and coding.
By attending every week, your child has the opportunity to regularly practice the computer programming and coding skills they have previously acquired which creates a solid base on which to add new skills.
5. How does attending the Junior Computhink class help in laying the foundation for my child’s future?
Developments in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Connectivity, Big Data, and the Internet of Things, have raised the collective capabilities of these technologies and combined them into networked services that would soon render a number our current skill-sets obsolete. It used to be thought that computers and machines will only be able to replace jobs which are repetitive in nature, however, it is estimated that 40-60% of jobs will soon be replaceable by computers.
The ability to understand and write computer programs will empower your kid with the skills to navigate, understand and perhaps create this computational future. In whichever profession that your kid may enter in the future, it is certain that programming and logical thinking skills would be a key part of it.
