Corrosion Engineering - Mechanisms, Causes, Investigation and Prevention

Corrosion occurs in all industries from automotive and aerospace to infrastructure, construction, marine, petroleum, power, paper making, food processing, bioengineering, and pharmaceuticals. Corrosion is costly, dangerous, wasteful, and unsightly in some cases. It can be predicted, controlled, and even avoided. This corrosion engineering training course presents an overview of the eight major corrosion processes and related corrosion monitoring techniques, prevention methods. The principles discussed are applicable to all metals. Emphasis is on principles, mechanisms of corrosion and practical applications of technology to solving industrial corrosion problems.

Dr George YU is Registered Chartered Engineer (UK), API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector (USA), Executive Committee Member of The Institute of Materials (East Asia) and Technical assessor/expert of Singapore Accreditation Council. Dr YU had correctly determined the root cause of the worst MRT disruption on 7 July, 2015 and his views had been published on Top of The News in Straits Times (A4, 30 July 2015). His investigation and recommendations on two major roller coaster incidents (shutdown for >1 year) resulted in significant improvements on safety and reliability of the system. Dr YU has more than 35 years of relevant industrial work and research experience. As lead author, he published a number of technical papers in referred international journals and conferences. As expert witness, Dr YU attended a series of court hearings and legal litigations including Committee of Inquiry (COI) on two major MRT disruptions in 2011 and fatal crane incident at National Arts Gallery. As Principal Investigator, he successfully accomplished more than 1000 relevant projects including oil pipeline corrosion, aircraft engine failures, submarine damages, crane accidents, turbine damages, gearbox explosion, City blackout, jack-up rig pipe corrosion, heat exchanger explosion, transformer fire, hovercraft propeller damage etc.

Companies may replace participants who have signed up for the course, given one week notice before course commencement.

Can I get refund if the course is cancelled?

UTC reserves the right to change or cancel any course, in light of unforeseen circumstances. Full refund is applicable in case of cancelation.

Can I withdraw the registration?

Yes. You can withdraw the registration two months before the course commencement, without any charge.

If your withdraw is made 1-2 months before the course commencement, 50% refund will be applied.

If the withdraw is made less than 1 month before the course commencement, no refund will be provided. Replacement is acceptable, given one week notice before course commencement.

When the registration is closed?

The registration will be closed 10 days before the course commencement.
