Description

Jacob Manning was born and raised in a small town in Northern California. Inner turmoil, a failed baseball career, and a battle with the disease of addiction led him to start practising yoga extensively. It became his new addiction, and he also began teaching in 2013. Inspired by movement coupled with a background in competitive sports, Jacob has a unique way of weaving together the Hatha Yoga style, Philosophy and Pranayama.

Creative sequencing and anatomy-based alignment create a space to deepen the inner connection. Jacob is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher through YogaWorks. He is currently teaching workshops, classes and retreats around the world. He is strongly passionate about spreading his love for yoga and helping others in their practice.


Saturday, 1 September

Session 1: Standing Asanas (9:00am – 12:00pm)

We will focus on standing postures to establish a strong foundation for arm balances and back bends. This session will cover externals, neutrals, twists, hand binds, knee wraps, balancing and foot grabs. The aim is to be able to do the various postures with control and heightened body awareness.\

Session 2: Arm Balance Intelligence (1:00pm – 4:00pm)

A combination of scapular and bent elbow strength poses. In this session, students will learn the proper muscles to engage during plank pose. This is beneficial for strengthening the muscles that are essential for the inversions and arm balances that will be taught. After establishing a strong foundation, we will work our way into arm balances and preparation work for one-arm balances. Students will learn the techniques needed to transit from one arm balance to another fluidly.


Sunday, 2 September

Session 3: Breaking Down Inversions (9:00am – 12:00pm)

The focus will be on inversions mastery, where students will be taught the proper techniques needed to master headstands, handstands and the four-arm stand. Students will also learn the tools and processes so that they can feel comfortable and confident upside down. In this session, Jacob will also guide students to work their way into the press handstand.

Session 4: Back Bend Progression (1:00pm – 4:00pm)

Students will learn different variations of back bends and how to perform them safely by being given the tools and techniques to securely invert their back bends. At the end of this session, students will gain more confidence in their ability to correctly and safely attempt new and advanced back bends.
