What does mitigating climate change have to do with the relationship we have with our bodies?
Through emotional, authentic and imaginary encounters with the self, body, others and the planet, we seek to understand how much clothing consumption is enough, for ourselves and for Mother Earth.
Facilitated by Shi Han Chan, an Integrative Psychotherapist who specializes in Dance/Movement Psychotherapy, this event is part of Changing Room founded by National Geographic Explorer Thammika Songkaeo, who passionately unearths the mind-body-clothing-consumption connection with collaborators.
For two hours, participants can expect the use of authentically derived movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical well-being, gaining a deeper understanding of how these aspects influence their connection with clothing—an industry that's one of the biggest contributors to climate change.
You will experience Shi Han bringing to life some of her guiding principles, including:
- "All movement, no matter how small or great, exerts an impact on our emotional landscape."
- "Movement, when done meaningfully, can be a mechanism that supports, regulates and transforms emotions."
- "Movement empowers and supports self-determination by enacting our purpose and creating self-identities through tangible action."
Participants need not have any dance training. As long as you wear clothes, this session is relevant to you and you're invited.
