Informatics Academy

Tableau is a business intelligence and data analytics tool for generating reports and data visualization with high flexibility.

This workshop will be conducted online via Zoom meetings. It will be interactive, hands-on with quizzes, exercises and Q&A.Workshop ObjectivesThe participants will learn how powerful a tool like Tableau can be to showcase data in a visually insightful manner. They will sign up for a free trial of Tableau Desktop and be given a large data set for a highly practical workshop. We will be walking through the analytics workflow with a real-world case study using Tableau to build a dashboard to tell an insightful story. Dimensions • Tableau Tips and Tricks • Filters, Parameters and Calculations • Data Visualization • Fundamentals of Data Visualization • Creating Dashboards • Advanced Visualizations • Maps with Tableau • Customization • Publishing with Tableau Takeaways • Use the analytics workflow with Tableau to slow a sample real world case study • Understand and use a variety of Tableau functionalities to build a sample dashboard • Understand data visualization concepts and fundamental principles Pre-requisites Free Tableau trial downloaded to laptop, ready to go at start of the bootcamp Trainer Profile Desmond SekDesmond has more than 5 years in the IT industry and is passionate about enabling the next wave of tech disruptions(AI, VR, AR, Blockchain) to hit the traditional industries. Having been involved in various projects, he has experienced the full spectrum of architecting, designing, development and maintenance of enterprise systems which are both web and mobile based systems. He is experienced in merging traditional software engineering and the cutting-edge developments in data analytics and artificial intelligence. As a Co-Founder of Xaltius, he is spear heading new products surrounding Travel and AI and Healthcare using AR/AI technologies.A personal vision of his would be to educate others in joining the fast-growing tech sector and achieve programming language literacy. In todays’ tech dominated world, having IT literacy is of utmost importance and constantly encouraging the next generation to learn about IT is the way forward.
