Through engaging workshops and expert-led discussions, participants will gain actionable insights, foster meaningful connections, and collaborate on creating inclusive, supportive environments where every child can thrive.
Schedule & Topics
Session 1: 28 Jul (Mon), 3-5PM
Topic: The relationship between executive functions and social and emotional development
According to Professor Diamond, the relationship between executive functions and social emotional learning (SEL) is bi-directional. Better executive functions will lead to better SEL outcomes and vice versa. Come join this deep dive session to understand more.
Participants will be able to:
1.Understand the bi-directional relationship between EF and SEL
2. Identify how EF and SEL manifest in children’s behaviours.
3. Learn strategies to support emotional regulation through the development of EF skills.
Session 2: 29 Jul (Tues), 3-5PM
Topic: How can teachers help students with ADHD to function better?
This session will differentiate types of ADHD (inattentive and/or hyperactive-impulsive) while sharing the practical strategies to help develop executive functions in these children.
Participants will be able to:
1. Differentiate types of ADHD and understand their executive function profiles.
2. Recognize behaviour as a reflection of brain development.
3. Apply supportive strategies grounded in empathy and science.
Session 3: 30 Jul (Wed), 3-5PM
Topic: The positive impact of motor skill development on executive functions
Reimagining pre-school teachers integrating movement into daily routines can enhance attention, planning, emotional regulation, and overall cognitive performance. Participants will also learn how stress affects executive functions and how physical activity can serve to strengthen them.
Participants will be able to:
1. Understand the science linking motor skills and executive function.
2. Explore how movement activities can improve focus, self-control, and problem-solving.
3. Learn practical ways to incorporate purposeful movement into learning environments.
Session 4: 2 Aug (Sat), 9-11AM
Topic: How to improve executive function in caregivers?
Executive functions are important for both adults and children. This session is for both educators and parents to exercise executive functions to better support the children in their care. Stress and its impact on executive functions will also be discussed.
Participants will be able to:
1. Understand core components of executive function in adults.
2. Recognize how caregiver EF impacts child development.
3. Discover self-reflective practices to improve EF in daily caregiving.
