About the Programme

This workshop is for participants aged 50 years and above.

Have you ever wondered how the sensors in home security systems work to detect intruders and protect you and your family? Join us as we show you how to code a basic sensing device using the micro:bit*!

*The micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that has been introduced in many schools worldwide to encourage students to come up with innovative solutions with coding.

In this introduction to coding, participants will learn:

• What a micro:bit is and how it works;

• A block-based programming language used for the micro:bit – Microsoft MakeCode; and

• How to code a micro:bit so that it functions as a basic sensor.

This programme is suitable for beginners. No prior knowledge of micro:bit is needed to participate.

Laptops will be provided for the workshop.
