About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

The Japanese koto is traditionally a 13-string zither which has been adapted to different musical settings throughout history. From traditional pieces to contemporary pieces and pop songs, the koto is able to explore a wide range of expressions and sonic possibilities.

KotoKottoN, a koto ensemble based in the National University of Singapore (NUS), will be presenting a diverse set of pieces including iconic koto pieces such as Rokudan no Shirabe (六段の調), soulful koto ensemble pieces like Beyond the Ascent (上昇の彼方) by Hikaru Sawai, and even a rendition of Tenkyuu (天泣) from the anime Kono Oto Tomare!

Stay with us till the end and get a chance to try out the koto!
