Duncan Mckee Trio @ The Jazz Loft

In June 2022, the iconic Singapore music venue Blu Jaz reopened its live music program with the Jazz Loft, located on the 3rd floor of it’s premises at Bali Lane.The mission of this new space, is to showcase jazz, and improvisation, as an evolving art form, rather than a museum-piece, presenting those artists, both local and international, that are part of the forward motion, and artistic development of the music.

British pianist Duncan McKee brings his trio into the Jazz Loft for an evening of treasures from his eclectic European perspective

Duncan’s approach to the piano trio has been heavily influenced by Swedish pianists Bobo Stenson and Esbjörn Svensson, both of whom have a particular lyrical style characteristic of the Nordic jazz scene. His playing testifies to his early evolution within the London jazz scene, with it's embrace of a variety of global musical styles that eluded contemporaries elsewhere.The trio was formed in Singapore with two musical collaborators of the same eclectic spirit, Mexican bassist Mario Lopez, whose well-established Latin background is augmented by a deep understanding of both the classical and jazz traditions; and Australian drummer Alex Brindell, whose global adventuring has formed a particularly open and unique style of musical performance.The trio will be playing some lesser-known compositions, and personal favourites tailor-made for this classic jazz trio lineup.The Band:Alx Brindell on drumsMario Lopez on bassDuncan McKee on pianoDoors open at 7.00pmSets at 7.45 and 9.15pmCover charge $22 for both sets
