Immense yourself in the sounds of life of the Karen people through their unique soundscape. Thai music publishers and artists Hear & Found made field recordings in the Maeporkee community, located in Tak province, Northern Thailand and the river from Sanaepong community in the Karen Pwo village.

Audiences will listen to Mae”, a Karen lullaby song from Nong Tao community, Chiang Mai province features an indigenous lullaby sung by a Karen elder from Nong Tao village in Northern Thailand. It reflects the deep cultural connection the Karen people have with nature, particularly their reliance on rice farming, which is tied to their beliefs and way of life. The Karen, a significant indigenous group in Thailand, practice rotational farming to sustain their families and community while respecting the environment The recording was made in 2022, capturing the wisdom of the elders who emphasise living in harmony with nature through traditional methods. Oral traditions, including rhymes and music, serve as vital repositories of their history, culture, and wisdom. Another song by Karen musician Deepunu exemplifies this rich oral heritage. Additionally, the Tae Na Gu, a traditional Karen string instrument, has evolved over time, shifting from minor to major keys to blend with modern musical styles while maintaining its cultural significance.
