Embark on a sonic gastronomical ride at the launch of Eat by Ear, the world's first docu-dramedy podcast about food in Singapore, created by Woo Yen Yen.

Synopsis

Eat by Ear is a love letter to the rich and vibrant hawker food culture of Singapore. The sonic feast serves up secrets and stories of hawker chefs, in their own voices. Join us at the launch of Eat by Ear podcast, where we unravel a pilot’s journey to the perfect bowl of Kway chap, followed by a sizzling conversation between Woo Yen Yen (host and creator) and culinary experts K.F. Seetoh (Makansutra), Jason Koh (Garden Street Kway Chap).

The dessert will be "Kway Chap Resonance," a cheeky sonic improvisation that responds to the vibrant rhythmic rituals of Kway Chap. This captivating performance is brought to you by talented second-year BA Music Composition students from LASALLE College of the Arts: Lok Chew Ru, Keith Lew, and Adam Sim, proudly mentored by Belinda Foo.

Eat by Ear is part of The Listening Biennial LAB Exhibition which runs from 10 - 15 September at LASALLE College of the Arts.

Participant Notes

  • Food served from 6:30 to 7:00 PM

An Invite into Third Listening

The third edition of The Listening Biennial invites us to tune into the humming stars above and the countless voices they carry. These are voices of love and loss, voices that hold the past while evoking a future, and that resound with mystery and force, threading cosmic matter and embodied life with their potent stories. As part of the Singapore Night Festival, the artists of The Listening Biennial invite you to enter the space of Third Listening, to listen out for a plurality of life-forms as well as pathways of interconnection between seemingly irreconcilable differences.

The Singapore edition is co-programmed by artist Alecia Neo and publisher Ng Kah Gay of Ethos Books.
