Christophe Laurent
Christophe Laurent is the Values Ambassador at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), a leading Swiss university and oversees the implementation and respect of the values on campus at EHL. Prior to joining EHL, he held operational and managerial responsibilities in top restaurants and hotels in the UK. In 1991, he was awarded the title of MOGB (Meilleur Ouvrier de Grande Bretagne) Arts de la Table by the French Academy of Culinary Arts. With his domain of expertise in customer care management and international business etiquette, he travels locally and around the globe to share his experiences with university students and key players in the world of hospitality.

Kan Win Oung
Kan Win Oung is now spearheading a prominent heritage project named The Secretariat as the Group General Manager. He started his career in the hospitality industry as a Butler in a five star hotel, The Strand, from Yangon in 1997. He then moved on to working onboard the luxury river ship “Road to Mandalay”, which is a sister company of VSOE Express and E&O Express. After studying at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, he had an opportunity to work at the Sofitel Miami, Florida. Kan later returned to Myanmar and was the Food and Beverage Manager in a resort hotel in the ancient city “Bagan” and was offered the position of Executive Assistant Manager for a resort hotel on Ngwe Saung beach in 2007. In this capacity, he pioneered the opening of Bay of Bengal and was directly responsible for daily operations, strategic planning, recruitment and training of hotel staff. In 2012, he returned back to his home country Myanmar and worked as a business consultant chiefly in hospitality related fields, and was a CEO of a hospitality training school in Yangon.

Moe Thin Chay
Moe Thin Chay is the Founder and CEO of Zawgyi Star Foundation, engaging in wildlife conservation and community development in Myanmar. Recently graduated from Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, she was awarded the Young Hotelier Summit Challenge Winner in 2016 during her studies. Prior to joining EHL, she was the Tourism Ambassador of Myanmar in 2012, and worked with the Union of Myanmar Travel Association. With her expertise in hospitality management and passion for conservation and community engagement, she works closely together with locals, as well as international foundations on projects such as Aung Ban Luxury Housing Project, Myanmar Primate Gibbon Conservation and Pa-Oh Community development in Shan State.

This event is the first installment of the Defining Hospitality series in Myanmar, and will be attended by industry professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, hospitality students, and anybody else who may be interested. Our speakers will share their views on the world of hospitality. Defining Hospitality is a series of panel discussions we launched in Singapore in 2017. We’ve held four such discussions so far, with the topics of concept design, corporate culture, customer loyalty and food & beverage.
