Batik is a living art form. This exhibition is not just about textiles but about identity, storytelling, and community. By celebrating Singapore’s relationship with batik, we hope to inspire new generations of designers, wearers, and collectors.
What Is Batik Design Contest SG?
The Batik Design Contest SG is Singapore’s first nationwide and regional initiative to reimagine and define a uniquely Singaporean batik. While Indonesia, Malaysia, and other parts of Asia have established batik traditions, this contest seeks to shape a design language that reflects Singapore’s multicultural heritage, creativity, and aspirations. Batik, afterall is a design language that tells the story of the place it comes from.
What To Expect?
Showcase of Batik Designs prints including,
• 60 selected batik design works, selected from 140 submissions
• Young Voices in Batik – over 100 original batik drawings by children
• My Batik Story – personal stories and memories of batik in Singapore
