Event Information
About this Event
It started with a seed of an idea - literally. Rice, a multi-billion dollar industry, has humble roots: from harvest to plate, plate to state, rice as a grain carries stories of communities, and ambitions of nations.
Join Chu Hao Pei, in collaboration with The Little Rice Company, as they discuss what and how rice is regarded through exchanges of personal stories, and sharing and learning of native seed wisdom. Each participant will be served a drink of freshly boiled rice water and leave with a customized souvenir of the event, and hopefully a piqued interest in rice and its rich history and future.
Chu Hao Pei is currently a resident of Singapore Art Museum’s Community & Education Residencies. This programme is part of his artistic research process and is supported by the SAM Residencies programme.
Format & Facilitation:
The format of the event will be a part-workshop, part-conversation. As this activity is going on, participants will be engaged in the sharing of interesting facts around rice and its production and circulation.
This session will be held at the Wayang Outdoor Centrestage near the Greenhouses at the Farm area. In case of rain, the session will be moved indoors to level 2 Event Hall area.
