The Asian Institute of Digital Finance (AIDF) is a university-level institute in the National University of Singapore (NUS), jointly founded by The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the National Research Foundation (NRF) and NUS. AIDF aspires to be a thought leader, a FinTech knowledge hub, and an experimental site for developing digital financial technologies as well as for nurturing current and future FinTech researchers and practitioners in Asia.In the modern era of data-driven decision making and the digital future, while the society is facing various challenges in digital finance, we will provide thought leadership through an integrated approach to education, research, and business incubation.

Please be seated by 5pm so that the session can start and end promptly. In the dynamic and ever-changing realm of blockchain technology, the consideration of which Layer to build your solution on has gained significance. With the need to consider multiple factors like scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, developers, businesses, and researchers are faced with the choice of where to best build and deploy their blockchain applications. Hear from blockchains and protocol experts on what to consider before building. What may work for a certain type of product may not be suitable for another.Y﻿ou can drop your ideas on what you are thinking of building when signing up. Our experts will give suggestions and advice on what to consider. No prior knowledge of blockchain layers is required. The session will start with a basic introduction of what blockchain layers are and their differences.

He is responsible for the development of Polygon's ecosystem and projects in the Southeast Asia region and the Chinese markets, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan.He was previously with PwC, and had provided a range of services from audit, to strategic and operational advisory to banks and financial institutions as well as blockchain companies since 2018.

<h2>S﻿peaker: <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/jackietanyen/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jackie Tan</a></h2>Dr. Jackie Tan serves as the Head of Tribe Academy, a platform facilitating connections between individuals and Web2/Web3 learning opportunities. A serial entrepreneur since 2018, he has received accoloades including the Forbes 30-Under-30 and the National Youth Entrepreneurship Award for his startup endeavors, which have led to two successful exits. His early involvement with Sentinel Chain, a blockchain-focused financial inclusion startup, were his earliest foray into blockchain.Dr. Tan is also an educator who holds teaching positions in various education institutions, including as an adjunct professor at Nanyang Technological University, Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of InfoComm Technology, and the CTO-in-residence at the Center for Experiential Learning within the Singapore University of Social Sciences.

<h2>S﻿peaker: <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshuacheong/?originalSubdomain=sg" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Joshua Cheong</a></h2>Joshua works as a Substrate Builders Program Manager in Parity Technologies where his main responsibility is to support teams to develop into production blockchains which are secured by Polkadot and built using Substrate. He is also an alumn and guest lecturer of the Polkadot Blockchain Academy. He studied computer science in Singapore University of Technology and Design, and also graduated from Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. He is both a Commonwealth Scholar for Innovation and an Industry Scholar supported by Singapore&#x27;s Central Bank, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Prior to Parity Technologies, he worked as a VP of Citibank&#x27;s Commercial Digital Banking in Asia Pacific.

For the past 8 years, he has been exploring and amassing knowledge about Web3 and Digital Asset. He is currently the co-founder of Insightic, an AI agent-enabled compliance assessment solution for digital asset innovation. A programming enthusiast, he completed his PhD, Computer Science from NUS in 2022.
