AAC – Adult Art Club... or is it Active Ageing Centre?
Why we started AAC
Adulting’s tough, and retirement feels like a distant dream. So until then, together with Rachel @studio_ruiimake started our Adult Art Club (or Active Ageing Centre) — a fun little space where art helps us deal with the chaos of grown-up life. Playing and making anything with our hands reminds us we’re still alive and creative.
We’ve got way too many saved ideas on Pinterest and Instagram (you too?). AAC is our nudge to actually do the things, not just scroll by them. Turns out, it’s easier to follow through when you’re not doing it alone.
Materials we’ve got ready
Here’s some of the stuff we’ve been messing around with:
* Air-dry clay
* Chinese calligraphy
* Copic marker art
* Gouache & watercolour painting
* Sewing tiny cat outfits (Yes! There’s a sewing machine)
* Shrink plastic
How it works
No pressure to talk. No need to be good at anything. Just come as you are. Make something. Space out. Maybe make a friend. Maybe don’t.
We’ve got the materials ready for you. But if there’s something else you’re excited about, ask us. We might have it. Or feel free to bring your own stuff too.
Why is there a ticket cost of $38?
This helps us keep the lights on. It covers all the art materials, shared tools, and venue costs, so you can just show up, create, and have a good time. Think of it as your all-access pass to a two hours of hands-on fun, experimentation, and community!
Remarks:
- Location is not wheelchair accessible.
- The studio is home to 3 calm resident cats. If you have allergies or fear of cats, do take this into consideration before booking.
