Where does our food come from and what does our agricultural system look like?

From Soil to Society: Rethinking Agriculture through Permaculture - Session 1 of 2

Come join us for this first part of a 2-part session, where we will explore the Singapore food story (and beyond) to map out our agricultural system and understand how the different elements are interconnected.

In this session, we will not only explore the connections within the system but also the quality of these relationships including where we are in relation to this system.

We will discover the relationships that may be missing or broken and if the system is set up in a way that serves its intended purpose. This is a precursor to the second session, where we will then explore permaculture as a systemic design framework to reimagine a more holistic and inclusive agricultural system.

This event is made possible through the kind support for the venue of the studio of Henning Larsen, Singapore - who have allowed use of the space for these sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Are profits made from this event?

No - this is a community organised event. Selling tickets are to ensure fewer ghost sign ups. The meals are charged almost at cost price with a small margin for platform fees, to cover the meals of our speakers or supporters, as well as any basic costs associated with holding the event.

Can I bring my own food?

Where the venue allows (which is indicated for each event) you may bring your own food. We ask that you manage your own waste responsibly. You will still need to buy a ticket, as this contributes to the shared costs of holding the events.

Are there refreshments available?

This is dependent on the location of the event. Where food is not available we will usually offer the option to pre-order bento-box type meals. We also highly encourage participants to bring their own refillable container as there will usually (but not always) be a water refill machine.
