About the Programme

In this workshop, adult participants will get a chance to play two games, BossUP! and Emotional Baggage.

Co-developed by SIT professors Angela Shueh and Jeffrey Koh, along with local design consultancy Chemistry  [chemistryteam.com], BossUP! and Emotional Baggage look to address the challenges we all face at work, in a fun and playful way. Spend the afternoon laughing and competing with one another, while working though the things that make work such a chore.

About Emotional Baggage

Emotional Baggage Board Game is a highly contextualized game designed to address workplace stressors and emotion literacy. As players navigate the board to accumulate milestones along the way, they need to overcome challenging situations through empathy and creativity. The board game provides a safe space for open dialogue and perspectives taking, thus facilitating the development of empathy, awareness, cognitive flexibility, and some self-care guidance for emotion regulations.

Since the launch of the game at Singapore Design Week 2022, the game has been played by over 200 people to-date, across different industries such as Healthcare sector, Education, Creative and Media industries. It will be played by the public this coming July 2024 at Skills Future Festival and part of National Library Board’s LearnXCommunity regular event from August 2024 onwards.

About Boss Up!

Over the last 20 years of working across an amazing range of organisations, we learned that the major obstacle to innovation was not the lack of ideas, but the need to changing entrenched organisational mindsets. We believed game play has the power to break that barrier by creating a safe and fun space for teams to engage in a different way. BossUP! is a tool designed to engage not only your creative team, but works across all functions to stimulate ideas and conversations that may otherwise never take place.

About The Facilitators:

Jeffrey Koh, PhD

Jeffrey is an Associate Professor at SIT. In the past he has worked as a fine artist, exhibiting in venues such as the Barbican, Southbank Centre, Singapore Design Festival, Archifest and the Art House Singapore, and was previously an Assistant Director at the National Gallery Singapore. As an experience designer, he has developed catwalks and fashion shows for PRADA and Miu Miu for the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, and helped open the London office of KesselsKramer. He has also worked in the past as a tech entrepreneur and advisor in the areas of artificial intelligence, fine art provenance and crowdsourcing, and is a Fellow of the EF Singapore. He has been featured on Channel News Asia, Digital News Asia, Tech in Asia and the Straits Times. He is a Founder and Advisor at Orobo.io, which is a circular economy on the blockchain startup and recipient of the IMDA Blockchain Challenge grant. With Chemistry, a Singapore design consultancy with a satellite office in Amsterdam, Jeffrey has acted as lead consultant and advisor for transformation projects with clients such as NHB, MAS, IMDA, Design Singapore Council, HP, NEC, Konica Minolta, Aviva Singlife, Estee Lauder, and more, and has been invited as keynote speaker for venues such as TEDx Zurich, Pecha Kucha, General Assembly, and others. He currently sits on the advisory board for the NPE Gallery, was a Peer of the Australia Council for the Arts’ Experimental Arts Jury, and was a Researcher and Adjunct Lecturer for UNSW Art & Design in Sydney, Australia, where he codesigned the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Crossmedia degree programme, as well as the Transmedia Storytelling MOOC on Coursera, which has had over to 70k students enrolled to date.

Angela S C Ng

Angela has 20 years of corporate experience in the APAC’s Media and Marketing industry where she horned her skills as a human-experience designer. In 2016, she embarked on her 2nd career in learning and development as a Trainer, and to-date, she has conducted over 500 workshops and classes in Singapore, APAC and Bhutan!

She develops and delivers both academic and professional training programs relating to Communication and Experience Design. She currently is a faculty member with Singapore Institute of Technology, and one of the appointed trainers for HP Queen Bee programme, and SAF’s Executive Coach for their leadership development.

With a Master in Positive Psychology, Angela moves from Design for Consumerism to Design for Growth (in education and wellbeing). She continues her doctoral research in emotions. She is the author of the book, “What Colours Are You Feeling?”, TEDx Singapore 2019 Speaker on “Design Think To Happiness” and the creator of “Emotional Baggage Board Game”, which is an organizational development toolkit that addresses emotion challenges at workplace through gamification.
