Join us for our first gathering of our second cycle of the Climate Transformation Gatherings.
Following our first lecture 'Knowing the Reef: Community Insight and Scientific Understanding', 26 August 2025, join us for a behind-the-scenes tour by the Tropical Marine Science Institute of the coral culture facilities at the St John's Island National Marine Laboratory (SJINML) to understand Singapore's coral restoration initiatives.
Please see below for the schedule, please note that participants will have to purchase their own round trip ferry ticket to Lazarus Island (Seringat Jetty), the St John's Island jetty is currently closed.

Location: Participants to meet at 8:30AM at Marina South Pier to purchase round trip ferry tickets and board 9AM ferry to Lazarus Island

8:30am: Participants to gather at Marina South Pier and purchase round trip ferry tickets
9am – 9.30am: Participants to board 9am ferry from Marina South Pier to Lazarus Island (Seringat Jetty)
9.30am – 10am: Walk from Seringat Jetty to SJINML Marine Park Outreach and Education Center
10am – 10.30am: Introduction to Marine Science in Singapore by SJINML team
10.30am – 11am: Facility tour by SJINML team
11am - 11.30am : Ending group discussion
11.30am: Gathering end

About the Climate Transformation: Sustainable Societies Gathering series
Extended from the Climate Transformation Sustainable Societies Lecture Series, the Climate Transformation Gatherings consolidates critical concepts and ideas around various environmental themes and theories. These gatherings take various formats including open-discussion seminars, reading groups, workshops and guided tours to engage interested members of the public on various environmental issues.
The Climate Transformation: Sustainable Societies Series is organised by members of the Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) Cross-Cutting Theme 1: Sustainable Societies research team, Senior Principal Investigator Professor Ute Meta Bauer, research fellow Joshua Gebert, research associate Ng Mei Jia and research assistant Angela Ricasio Hoten.
